Some commentators consider that technically speaking the Palimino is a coat color horse type and not a true breed. Palimino
is a golden coat color that occurs in many breeds such as Morgans, Saddlebreds, Tennessee
Walking Horses, and the Quarter Horses. The coat color is the most important factor
in determining if a horse is Palimino. To be registered with the Palomino
Horse Association they specify that a Palimino's coat must be the shade of a newly minted
gold coin, only varying three shades more or less. A palimino's mane and tail must be
white. There should be no dorsal stripes. White markings on the legs should not rise
above the hocks or knees. Aside from color, their bodies should show a refined bone
structer and not display any pony or draught horse qualities and stand between 14 to 17
hands high.
