The Paso Fino heritage begins with horses brough by the Spanish
to the New World such as Barbs, Andalusians, and Spanish Jennets. From this strong
Spanish foundation came the Paso Fino. Paso Fino horses are 13 to 15.2 hands tall and can be
found in any horse color with or without white markings. The name is spanish for
"fine step" and they are properly named. The Paso Fino has a natural
lateral fourbeat gate which makes riding very smooth and comfortable. Despite being
on the small end of the horse spectrum they also have great endurance and strength.
Paso Finos can maintain their comfortable ride for extended periods of time.
This makes them well suited for trail riding and endurance competition. They
also excell in many western practices, rodeo events, and driving.
